Job Description for Cafe & Seasonal Events Staff / Supervisor

Job Title
Cafe & Seasonal Events Staff / Supervisor

Overview
Join our team at Deans Court, where you’ll take a hands-on role in creating unforgettable weddings and private events. You’ll help set up event spaces and oversee our Seasonal Events Staff, coordinate their tasks, and maintain a safe, friendly work environment. This can include managing arrival times, uniforms, and motivation, as well as coordinating with photographers, florists, and other suppliers. You’ll help keep the event on the schedule, handle bar setup and re-stocking, and work with caterers to ensure food service goes off without a hitch. At the end of the night, you’ll record bar stock, clean down the spaces, and secure all areas. If you’ve been trained in first aid, your role will also include caring for the welfare of employees, contractors, and guests by responding to any first aid needs as required. You will also be employed and eligible to work non-supervisory shifts, see: www.deanscourt.org/apply for details.

Key Supervisory Responsibilities*
Overseeing Seasonal Events Staff to ensure tasks are performed to a high standard
Fostering a safe and responsible working environment
Preparing and setting up event spaces
Managing Seasonal Events Staff (including monitoring arrival/departure times, uniforms, task delegation, and motivation)
Coordinating with suppliers (e.g., photographers, florists, stylists)
Overseeing the event timeline

Working alongside caterers to manage the dispatch of food
Overseeing bar setup

Maintaining cleanliness throughout event areas (including the marquee, bar, kitchen, and restrooms)
Managing Bands/DJs (including conducting noise checks and ensuring compliance with agreed noise levels)
Completing bar stock records and organising clear-down tasks, such as washing up, vacuuming, and collecting client belongings for later retrieval
Securing the marquee and all event areas

If you have been provided with first aid training: ensuring the welfare of employees, contractors, and guests is a critical part of your role, including responding to first aid needs as required.

*Additional duties may be assigned as appropriate for casual work.

Next day collections
You may also be asked to assist with next day collections (when there isn’t an event/wedding taking place)

Duties can include:
- Assisting suppliers and couples with the collection of items (and clearing up the stage area afterwards)
- Unlocking the Gate House Hot Tub (if wedding guests are staying there)
- Resetting toilets (if not completed the night before), descaling dishwasher/glasswash/hot water urns & mopping the kitchen (if not completed the night before)
- Checking all bins and laundry have been taken to the stable yard, speakers/radios have been put on charge, lids have been placed on fire pits and catering area/staff area is clean & tidy
- Completing a perimeter check for glasses/rubbish & recording any lost property
- Hoovering the party-side of the marquee & mopping the kitchen
- Securing the marquee

Given the absence of the responsibility that comes with Supervising a wedding/event when working next day collections, the regular non-supervisor rate will apply. Please note, those helping with the collection the next day will be working alone and there is no expectation for Supervisors to work this shift if they do not wish to do so.
